Rs 1074 lakh disbursed as MGNREGA wages

A review meeting of the district planning, development and 20-Point Programme was chaired by the Chairman of the committee and Industry, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour and Employment Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan at the Bachat Bhawan in Nahan today.
The meeting saw the presence of several dignitaries, including Deputy Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Vinay Kumar, Member of Parliament Suresh Kashyap, Paonta Sahib MLA Sukhram Chaudhary, former Assembly Speaker Gangu Ram Musafir and Dayal Pyari.
During the meeting, it was found that under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), 100,760 job cards had been issued so far. Additionally, a total of Rs 1074.35 lakh had been disbursed as wages under
MGNREGA, with a target of Rs 4199.03 lakh set for the fiscal year 2024-25. It was also informed that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), 1,990 houses were constructed during the fiscal year 2023-24. Furthermore, 729 individual household toilets were approved in rural areas.
The meeting highlighted that Sirmaur district had recorded 1,717 institutional deliveries to date, with 1,631 conducted at government hospitals and 86 at private hospitals. Additionally, 1,462 Anganwadi centres were at present operational in the district.
The Forest Department had set a target of planting trees across 526.60 hectares in the district during the fiscal year 2024-25. Of these, 196.55 hectares had already been covered, with 149,405 saplings planted so far out of the targeted 396,460.
The Electricity Department reported that 449.84 million units of energy was provided in the district.
At the meeting it was disclosed that in the fiscal year 2023-24, 1,750 proposals worth Rs 4519.25 lakh were received for developmental schemes in Sirmaur. For the fiscal year 2024-25, 355 proposals worth Rs 920.76 lakh had been received.
A concerning issue raised during the meeting was the detection of 1,279 cases of dengue in Nahan city. In response, Chauhan directed the Municipal Corporation to carry out fogging operations to prevent the spread of the disease.
Chauhan instructed all officials to expedite various developmental projects in Sirmaur to ensure that the people of the district could benefit from the state government’s initiatives. The proceedings of the meeting were conducted by Additional District Magistrate Layak Ram Verma.
