Those who have completed 90-day work under MGNREGA should get themselves registered with the Labour and Employment Department. Any officer who hinders the registration process of these workers will face the music.

Bikram Singh Thakur, industries and technical education minister

Bikram Thakur was speaking during a meeting which was attended by panchayat secretries, gram rozgar sevakars, technical assistants and engineers at Pragpur. He directed the officers to expedite and supervise the works so that the Rural Development Department and people were connected at the grossroot level. During the 2019-20 financial year, Rs 3.50 crore were spent under the Mahtma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) for developmental works.

He said those who had completed 90-day work under MGNREGA should get themselves registered with the Labour and Employment Department and warned those officers of serious consequences who create stumbling blocks in the registration process of these workers.

He directed the officer that due to some land conflicts the developmental funds remained unused with the panchayats and these funds should be returned back because these funds need to be used for the developmental works and not to be kept in the bank accounts of the panchayats.
