Dhiman said farmers are given subsidies on the cost of farm inputs, adding that soil testing laboratory at the Agriculture department’s laboratory in Pekhubela village has been strengthened at a cost of Rs 7.2 lakh. He said beneficiaries of the scheme can also be a collective of farmers for vegetable cultivation, whereby the scale of cultivation is increased. This results in sharing of farm inputs, farm labour and transportation, thereby reducing cost of cultivation and marketing.

The Dy Director said under the scheme, beneficiary farmers receive 50 per cent subsidy on seeds including food grains, pulses, oil seeds and fodder, while 25 per cent subsidy is given on purchase of potato, turmeric and ginger seeds. He said use of organic fertilisers and insecticides besides insect lure traps, are being promoted under the scheme.
