“There is over Rs 352.52 crore lying unclaimed with the Reserve Bank of India belonging to people of the state, including Rs 21.07 crore from this district,” said Ashish Kumar Sharma, Assistant General Manager of the RBI, while addressing a gathering at Gauna village in the Nadaun constituency on Thursday.
He said the RBI has launched a nationwide awareness drive, ‘Your Money, Your Right’, to ensure that rightful beneficiaries can reclaim money parked in dormant and unclaimed bank accounts for years.
Sharma stressed that the RBI is committed to helping individuals recover their outstanding deposits and noted that banks across the region are holding special camps to simplify the claim process. He urged the public to take full advantage of the initiative and support the campaign by checking for any unclaimed deposits within their families.
During the programme, RBI Lead District Officer Ashish Sangra, PNB-RSETI Director Ajay Katna and other officials explained the step-by-step process for claiming long-pending deposits. They also cautioned residents about rising digital frauds and encouraged them to adopt safe banking habits.
Parul Upadhyay, Chief Manager of PNB Circle Office, managers of nearby nationalised bank branches and members of Panchayati Raj Institutions were present on the occasion.
