Lokendra Mohan Chandel, a resident of Shoghi near Shimla and a renowned entrepreneur, donated Rs 50.20 lakh for making food arrangements for pilgrims at the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj.
Chandel today presented the cheque to Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, requesting his support in channelizing the funds for this purpose.
In addition to his contribution to Mahakumbh, Chandel also donated Rs. 2.05 lakh each to the Chief Minister Relief Funds of Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh and Rs. 2.05 lakh to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. These cheques were also handed over to the Governor during a courtesy meeting at Raj Bhavan, here today.
Accompanied by Shimla-based social worker Deepak Sharma and Vice President of All India Sharshwat Parishad Gaurav Sharma, Chandel expressed his wish to contribute meaningfully to this once-in-a-144-year spiritual event.
The Governor commended Chandel’s generosity and devotion, emphasizing the Mahakumbh's significance as a global spiritual and cultural congregation. He described the event as a reflection of India’s ancient traditions and an embodiment of universal harmony and human values.
