Rs 55 crore to be spent on roads in Sunni tehsil

Public Works Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh yesterday said that the state government was spending about Rs 55 crore on roads in Sunni tehsil of the Shimla (Rural) Assembly Constituency.

Vikramaditya, while presiding over a programme at Basantpur village in Sunni, said that the work to upgrade the Shanola-Shadi road was being undertaken at a cost of Rs 6.50 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana. He added, “An amount of Rs 12 crore is being spent to upgrade the Jalog-Gadheri road, while the Madholghat-Jamog road will be constructed at a cost of Rs 4.80 crore. The Khatnol-Dandibagh road is being constructed at a cost of Rs 7.50 crore while Rs 5.40 crore is being spent on the Bagh-Kyalu road.”

He said, “Nearly half of the work on the Nayasair road has been completed.” He added that former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh had added new dimensions to development in the Shimla (Rural) constituency. “Many educational institutions were established in the area and many local youth are getting employment opportunities there. At present, there are three Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) and one polytechnic college in Sunni tehsil alone,” he added.
