Rs 98,000 cr to be spent on poor: MP

The Centre had proposed Rs 98,000 crore for the welfare of weaker sections of society in the recently presented Budget. This was stated by Anurag Thakur, Minister of State, while addressing a public meeting at Tauni Devi village near here today.

He said this included Rs 55,000 crore for the welfare of Schedule Castes while Rs 43,000 crore was proposed for the welfare of women. The government had proposed to spend the grants on fertilizers, cheap ration, petrol, diesel, LPG, etc. Thakur said the Centre had also issued grants to the state and other financial relief. The Central government had proposed to provide Rs 11,431 crore to meet the financial deficit and additional support of over Rs 5,000 crore. — OC
