Una, September 26

Chairman of the State Finance Commission Satpal Singh Satti today launched the work for drilling a deep bore drinking water tube well at Malahat village, near Una city. A sum of Rs 13.3 lakh would be spent on the project.

Satti said that once complete, the tube well would provide adequate drinking water to 1,700 households. In the Una constituency, the Jal Shakti Department had set a target of providing piped drinking water to 12,045 households. He added that Rs 5.73 crore was being spent on the work to be completed by the year end.

He said that 8,649 target households had already been covered in the last five months. Besides, five more tube wells would be installed at Rampur, Nangran, Rampur, Bhadolian Khurd and Jankaur villages in the Una segment in the coming months at a cost of Rs 77.37 lakh.
