Rs 30 crore for water scheme in 171 villages

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will lay the foundation stone of a drinking water augmentation scheme to benefit 171 remote villages of Una district. In a statement issued by Rural Development Minister Virender Kanwar here today, he said Rs 30 crore would be spent on the scheme.

Kanwar said that the Chief Minister would lay the collective foundation stone of the scheme at Samoor Kalan village on Sunday. The scheme is being funded under the Jal Jeevan Mission of the Union Government and will benefit a population of more than 50,000 residents of the Kutlehar Assembly segment.

The Rural Development Minister said that the existing drinking water schemes at Nari Chalola, Nangal Salangri, Jhambar Kuriala, Surjehda, Madanpur Basoli, Samoor Kalan, Ramgarh Dhaar and Lamlehri would be augmented.
