Rs 81.92 cr received to fight Covid-19

The government has received Rs 81,92,62,087 in donations in the HP SDMA Covid-19 State Disaster Response Fund. Of this amount, Rs 18,52,97,033 has been released to various districts and departments to fight the pandemic.

According to a release issued today, 6,463 individuals have contributed through online donations and 3,945 have contributed through offline mode. The donations came from industrialists, organisations, panchayats, mahila mandals, individuals and even students, who even gave away their pocket money for this noble cause.

The State Disaster Management Authority has created the fund to provide personal protection equipment to health workers and other frontline officials as well as to ensure smooth supply of essential commodities like food items and medicines.

The major contributors, according to the release, are the Baba Balak Nath Trust, Hamirpur, the Radha Soami Satsang, Procter & Gamble Home Product Private limited, Mankind Pharma Limited, Pidilite Industries, the HP State Agricultural Marketing Board, the Himachal Road Transport Corporation, the HP Board of School Education, the HP State Agriculture Marketing Board, the HP Forest Development Corporation and the HP State Pollution Control Board.

To bring home stranded persons in different parts of the country through buses, trains and by air, the SDMA remitted funds to different government departments, agencies and individuals.
