Resenting the ouster of 18 workers, the Ambuja Cement Workers Union today took out a protest march outside the main gate of the factory at Baglehar village in Nalagarh.

The union president, Jarnail Singh, said the management had ousted 18 workers, which was unfair as the employees were already facing hardships during the Covid-19 pandemic. He said the management should give wages to all regular and contractual employees, including the pending wages of April and May.

The union also demanded that the employees should be given their jobs back and their terms and conditions should remain unchanged. The union threatened to intensity their stir if their demands were not fulfilled within 48 hours. They also said they would not permit the management to employ new workers from outside.

Raj Kumar, the union general secretary, said it was unfair to sack workers who had been working for the past 11 years. — TNS
