Bilaspur's Sadar Police Station named best in Himachal
The Himachal Pradesh Police have declared Sadar Police Station in Bilaspur district as the best police station in the state for the year 2024. BSL Colony Police Station, Mandi district and Damtal Police Station, Nurpur district, have been recognised as the second and third best, respectively. Women Police Station, Una, has been adjudged the Best Women Police Station for its exceptional handling of crimes against women, effective complaint redressal and proactive community outreach.
The SHOs of these police stations were felicitated with trophies by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at the Himachal Day celebrations held in Killar, Chamba district.
These recognitions were announced as part of the 78th Himachal Day celebrations. The stations were evaluated based on approved criteria and detailed data analysis, covering a broad range of policing parameters. These included crime prevention and control, enforcement under special and local laws (such as NDPS, Excise, Arms, Explosives Acts), execution of warrants, action against proclaimed offenders, quality and timeliness of investigations, cybercrime handling, recovery in financial frauds, disposal of case property and efficient malkhana (evidence storage) management.
The evaluation also emphasised the handling of crimes against women and vulnerable groups, community policing efforts, road safety, timely verifications, pendency monitoring and conduct of departmental enquiries.
Special focus was given to performance in commercial quantity NDPS cases, including preventive detentions under the PIT NDPS Act, source tracing, backward linkages and financial investigations leading to property attachments worth Rs 20 lakh and above.
