Safety advisory for travellers on Killar-Thirot-Tandi road
The Lahaul and Spiti Police have issued a safety advisory for travellers on the Sansari-Killar-Thirot-Tandi (SKTT) road, particularly in the area near Kadu Nala, about 84 km from Lahaul. Due to continuous sliding and shooting stones, the road has become hazardous for vehicles and pedestrians travelling through the region.
In the light of the ongoing danger, the police have advised all travellers heading towards Killar from the Lahaul side to avoid unnecessary travel after 5 pm. This advisory aims to ensure the safety of individuals and vehicles as the risk of stone slides and landslides increases after sunset.
The Sansari-Killar-Thirot-Tandi road, which is crucial for connecting Lahaul with the remote areas of Killar and beyond in Chamba district, is prone to landslides and other natural disturbances, especially during the winter months. Authorities are continuously monitoring the situation and have urged people to plan their travel during daylight hours when visibility is better.
The Lahaul and Spiti police have reassured the public that safety measures are in place and will continue to be enforced to minimise risks.
SP Lahaul and Spiti Mayank Chaudhary stated that travellers should stay updated on weather conditions and road status before embarking on the journey.
