Shimla, August 7
To ensure quality education in schools, Samagra Shiksha is preparing a Teachers Competence Framework (TCF).
In this framework, qualities of teachers that can prove helpful in providing holistic and quality education to schoolchildren will be highlighted.
“A workshop to finalise the framework is being organised in Chandigarh,” a Samagra Shiksha spokesperson said.
The workshop, which is set to conclude on August 10, is being jointly organised by Samagra Shiksha (STARS); Inter-Disciplinary Studies Department, Himachal Pradesh University (HPU); and the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh.
Fifty-seven participants including principals, lecturers, headmasters, TGTs, JBTs, and about 20 researchers from HPU are part of the workshop.
Under the New Education Policy (NEP)-2020, National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST) have been created to ensure quality school education in the country.
“In view of this, the state is preparing a framework for its teachers. It will include topics like communication skills of teachers, subject knowledge, teacher-child relationship, modern teaching methods, art and sports integration,” said the spokesperson. “This framework will ensure quality teaching, and make teachers aware of modern teaching methods.”
