Shimla, July 25

Samagra Shiksha, a government scheme sponsored by the Centre, will provide skill training to children aged 14-18 years, who could not attend school due to some reason. Once identified, Samagra Shiksha will provide these children short-term vocational courses of their interest to help become self-employed or find employment.

Samagra Shiksha will get a survey done to identify such children across the state. Following which, 50 skill centres will be opened to impart training to them. Each child will be given training in two courses of their choice. Under this programme, the children with special needs will also be identified and provided training as per their requirement.

The spokesperson of Samagra Shiksha said 4,317 teachers and school heads of government high schools and senior secondary schools have been specially trained by Samagra Shiksha. The teachers will identify such children in their respective areas and collect their details. “The survey to identify these children will be completed by the first week of September and training will start soon after,” the spokesperson said.

Instructions have been already issued by the Directorate of Samagra Shiksha to all Deputy Directors of Higher Education to complete the identification process so that the training can be started.
