More than 300 awards were presented to 100 students in recognition of their outstanding academic and co-curricular achievements at the annual prize distribution ceremony held at The Lawrence School, Sanawar, last evening.
Rajesh Dharmani, Minister for Town and Country Planning, graced the occasion as the chief guest and presented awards to the young achievers. Vinod Sultanpuri, Kasauli MLA and an alumnus of the school, was the guest of honour.
The event opened with a soulful invocation through Saraswati Vandana, followed by a vibrant display of cultural performances by the students.
Fifteen students received cash prizes for securing the highest marks in individual subjects in the CBSE Board examinations. Recognising consistent academic excellence, 28 students were conferred the prestigious Scholar’s Tie for the academic year 2024-25.
In addition, more than 50 students were honoured for excellence across over 30 co-curricular disciplines, including robotics, Indian music and dance, multimedia, social work, debating, photography, dramatics, fashion design, band and artificial intelligence.
Special awards included the Durant Prize for English Literature, awarded to Moksha Harnal and Sanaa Swani, while Mugdha Thakur received the Yog Raj Palta Memorial Art Trophy for excellence in fine art. The coveted Cariappa Shield for the Best Boarding House was awarded to Himalaya House.
The chief guest also presented the GSLC AcadElite EduBeacon Trophy to Headmaster Himmat Singh Dhillon. This award was conferred by the Global School Leader Consortium, New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Dharmani remarked, “Awards are important, but effort is even more important. Consistent effort is the key to excellence.”
In his concluding address, Headmaster Himmat Singh Dhillon reaffirmed the school’s commitment to the pedagogical vision of the National Education Policy (2020) and the National Curriculum Framework. He added that Sanawar is actively supporting capacity building in other schools across the state.
