Shimla, July 19
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today reviewed the progress of the under-construction heliport at Sanjauli suburb.
He directed officials to ensure time-bound completion of the heliport that would go a long way in facilitating tourists visiting Shimla.
The Chief Minister said the Rs 14-crore heliport would be equipped with all modern facilities such as a VIP lounge and utility area and facilitate the landing of helicopters under Udan-II.
Three more heliports were also coming up at Mandi, Rampur and Baddi.
Later, the Chief Minister visited the Bantony Castle, near Kalibari, and reviewed conservation, restoration and rehabilitation exercise being executed by spending an amount of Rs 25.45 crore.
He said the ADB-funded project would have three blocks —- A, B and C.
Block A would have a primary museum based on Himachali theme, block B would have a food court serving Himachali cuisine and the gallery of Himachali art and craft, whereas block C would have common amenities and an open air theatre on top. A light and sound show would be an added attraction for the tourists.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure quality construction and renovation of the project, besides ensuring that the original architecture was maintained.
