Saranahuli fair kicks off in Mandi’s Kamrunag and Prashar Lake areas

The Saranahuli fair, a significant cultural and religious event, began in Mandi’s Kamrunag and Prashar Lake areas on Sunday, attracting hundreds of devotees and tourists. The fair will conclude on Monday.

During the fair, deities from surrounding villages gather at the temple premises, accompanied by rhythmic folk music and chanting. Devotees participate in the parikrama of the sacred lake, offer prayers at the ancient temple, and enjoy folk performances like the famous Natti dance.

Kamrunag Lake, nestled at an altitude of 3,334 m, offers breath-taking views of the snow-peaked Dhauladhar ranges, and lush green forests.

The lake is a popular trekking destination and a sacred site dedicated to Kamru Nag. Prashar Lake, situated at an altitude of 9,000 ft, is a picturesque destination surrounded by the Utrasaal mountain range.

Celebrating culture

Krishan Bhoj, an area resident, said the fair was a celebration of the state’s rich and divine culture, showcasing the region’s vibrant traditions and deep-rooted faith.

Preserving sanctity

Temple authorities have requested the local administration to ensure that the ecological and spiritual environment of these sacred sites is maintained, and have called for strict action against anyone disturbing peace.
