Sardar Patel varsity celebrates foundation day with grandeur
Sardar Patel University, Mandi, marked its 3rd foundation day with a grand celebration at the university campus, bringing together distinguished dignitaries, faculty members, students, and esteemed guests. The occasion was graced by Vice-Chancellor Prof Lalit Awasthi as the chief guest, while Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Anupama Singh attended as the guest of honour.
The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolising the illumination of knowledge. Dr Madan Kumar, Registrar of the university, welcomed the gathering and set the tone for the celebration. A significant highlight of the day was the unveiling of the university’s newsletter, Mandav Chronicle, which documented the institution’s achievements and milestones over the past year.
Charting a path of growth and excellence
In his address, Prof Lalit Awasthi presented the annual report, reflecting on the university’s progress in academics, research, and innovation. He highlighted key milestones, including the university’s first convocation, the formation of the University Academic Council, and the inaugural Finance Committee meeting.
A major announcement made during the event was that, starting from 2024, Sardar Patel University will conduct its own entrance tests for all courses offered at the campus and affiliated colleges. The Vice-Chancellor also felicitated university deans for their academic contributions and extended his best wishes for continued success.
Prof Anupama Singh, Pro Vice-Chancellor, provided insights into the university’s journey from being part of a cluster university to becoming Himachal Pradesh’s second state university. She acknowledged the challenges faced in the initial years and emphasised the university’s vision for expansion, research enhancement, and its growing role in the socio-economic development of the region.
In a symbolic and heartfelt tribute, the university received an earthen pot containing soil from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birthplace.
