A one-day First Aid Training Camp was organised for students of the Junior Red Cross (JRC) at Government Senior Secondary School, Kasumpti on Thursday.
The camp was held under the joint aegis of the Himachal Pradesh State Red Cross and the District Red Cross Branch, Shimla. State Red Cross JRC/YRC Coordinator Virendra Singh Bisht briefed students on the activities of the Junior Red Cross and urged more youth to join the movement. He emphasised that knowledge of first aid not only makes students self-reliant during emergencies but also nurtures a spirit of social service.
State Red Cross Master Trainers Dr Kimi Sood and Dr Ganga Sharma trained students in essential first aid techniques including CPR (artificial respiration), bleeding control, burn and fracture management and other life-saving measures.
The school management also encouraged students, noting that first aid training equips youth to become responsible citizens.
A total of 50 JRC students, along with their teachers, participated enthusiastically in the camp and described it as a highly beneficial experience.
