Kangra, December 31

The installation and inauguration ceremony of the Indian Society of Anesthesiologists (ISA) city branch was held at Dr RPGMC, Tanda, during a function organised under the guidance of Prof Sudarshan Kumar, head of the anaesthesia department.

Dr Bhanu Awasthi, Principal, who was the chief guest, said Kangra became the second city branch of the ISA in Himachal Pradesh after Shimla. The event was inaugurated by Dr Balbir Chhabra, former professor and head, Tanda hospital and IGMC, Shimla.

Prof Sunil Katyal, head, anaesthesia, DMC, Ludhiana, was guest of honour and Dr Naveen Malhotra, honorary secretary, national ISA, welcomed the guests and facilitated the new office-bearers of the Kangra ISA city branch.

Dr Balbir Chhabra became the patron of the branch. Dr Sudarshan Kumar was chosen as president, Dr RK Verma as vice-president, Dr Jai Singh as general secretary, Dr Shelly and Dr Bharti Gupta as treasurer, Dr Dheeraj Singha as joint secretary and Dr Shyam Bhandari, Dr Aman Thakur and Dr Bhanu Gupta as general council members.

Dr Sunil Katyal and Dr Naveen Malhotra also presented the Public State Awareness award by the ISA to Himachal Pradesh and the Activity Award (2019) to Dr RPGMC, Tanda, for Compression Only Life Support (COLS) training imparted by the department of anaesthesia for which Dr Sudarshan along with the department accepted the awards.
