A Solan police team seized 800 sedative tablets from three youths at a naka at Dohri Diwar on the Solan-Shimla national highway last evening. The accused were identified as Vishal Singh (21), a resident of Nainital; Aman Kumar (20), a Nepalese; and Sonu (19), a resident of Solan. They were coming from the Rabaun area of Solan towards the highway at 9.20 pm yesterday when the police apprehended them. They could not produce valid documents for the storage or sale of the sedative tablets.
In yet another case, a team of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Solan police, while patrolling in the area, received a tip-off that two persons riding a three-wheeler and coming from Shamlech towards Chambaghat were carrying a large quantity of narcotics and illegal drugs for supply on Tuesday evening. On receiving information, the police team stopped and checked the vehicle and found two persons in possession of 270 sedative tablets but they could not produce any valid licence or papers. They were identified as Jugal Kishore (36), a resident of Mansar village, and Kailash Joshi (42), a resident of Kather village.
The drugs seized from the accused are prohibited under the Drugs and Cosmetic Act. Action has been taken against the accused in both cases under Section 18 of the Act and the case has been handed over to the Drug Inspector for further action.
