Sedatives seized from Nalagarh resident
A team of drug officials today seized 100 tablets of Tapentadol and 430 tablets of Pregabalin, sedatives misused by drug addicts, from the house of a resident of Ward No. 5 at Nalagarh this evening.
State Drugs Controller Manish Kapoor said drug inspector Promila Thakur was directed to seize the unauthorised stock of medicines from Satish Kumar who was known to be indulging in its unauthorised sale. Further attempt to trace the forward and backward linkage could not materialise as another person who was in touch with Satish fled before he could be nabbed by a team of drug officials.
“Pregabalin capsules are used to treat nerve pain while Tapentadol is used to treat severe pain and since they do not fall under the NDPS Act, they are being misused by drug addicts,” said Kapoor, adding that a large cache of such drugs were recently seized by the drug officials from Chamba too.
“Since Satish Kumar did not have any licence to stock or sell the said medicines which are schedules drugs that can’t be sold without a prescription, he is being booked under section 18(c) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act for unauthorised sale,” he said.
