Seminar on holistic development in technical education

A national seminar on ‘Holistic Development in Technical Education’ was organised at Himachal Pradesh Technical University here today. The seminar was organised under the aegis of Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP) in collaboration with Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, New Delhi. Vice Chancellor of HPTU Prof SP Bansal said technical education plays an important role in the social and economic development of the nation. He said to understand the utility of technical education, this seminar was organised, with a theme of Holistic Development in Technical Education and its current scenario and solutions. He said since Independence in India, education system had observed changes in social, cultural, economic and industrial needs.
He said there was a need to impart practical technical education so that students can be made skillful as skills could bring more employment opportunities. He said the HPTU was poised for employment-oriented technical education.
Atul Kothari, head of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, New Delhi, said technical education played an important role in social and economic development of a country.
