Senior Godrej official booked for violating COVID restrictions; quarantined in Baddi

The Baddi police registered a case against a senior HR head of Baddi-based Godrej Consumer Products Limited for failing to adopt the proper procedure while entering the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh industrial belt on Saturday evening amid the coronavirus outbreak.
SP Baddi, Rohit Malpani, said Krishan Kumar, senior HR Head of Godrej Consumer Products Limited, joined the company without adopting due procedure. He came on a scooter till Marrawala and later went to his company on foot in violation of the movement restrictions enforced in the area given the COVID-19 pandemic.
He added that the man has been quarantined at Government Senior Secondary School at Barotiwala and his contact tracing has been conducted. All employees who have come in contact with him would be screened tomorrow. He hails from Kalka in Haryana.
Notably, industry executives are being permitted to enter from other states after receipt of permission from the SP and they have to follow due procedure, including arrival at a designated time in specified vehicles. No movement of employees is permissible on foot as a preventive measure.
Cases of senior industry executives including MDs violating norms who have been quarantined have been regularly coming to fore in this industrial hub which houses 89 per cent of the State’s industry.
In another case, four officials in the management of VVF India Ltd entered the BBN area from toll barrier Barotiwala on the sly.
One vehicle, with two people, entered at 8:50 AM and next vehicle at 10:20 AM. The police noticed it in the afternoon while the compilation of vehicles was undertaken.
A warning was issued to the VVF management on their return at the Barotiwala barrier not repeat the mistake and follow the orders of the district administration strictly which says a maximum of two people per company will be allowed as per the roaster.
They have been warned of strict action like registration of a case for violation of route, entry of extra vehicles and non-submission of due papers.
A case under sections 188,269 and 270 of the IPC and section 51 of the Disaster Management Act and Epidemic Act has been registered against the HR official of Godrej company.
