The suspense over the continuation of the service loomed among people who believed that the hospital may face closure following delay in transfer of land to its sister concern Maharaj Jagat Singh Relief Society of Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB).

On November 27, locals and others had obstructed traffic near the gate of the RSHB on the roads leading to Shimla, Mandi, Dharamsala and Chandigarh. Men and women gathered there and demanded transfer of land. They also raised slogans against the state government.

Suresh Kumar, MLA Bhoranj, visited the hospital and met hospital authorities to assure them of favourable consideration from the government. He said it was the Congress government that had helped in establishing this hospital and now again Congress government would do everything to keep this hospital running.

Earlier, Prem Kumar Dhumal, former Chief Minister, had said that this hospital was providing health facilities to over four lakh people from the districts like Hamirpur, Mandi, Bilaspur, Una and even Kangra. He said that government should protect this facility in the interest of the masses.

Meanwhile, the hospital authorities have removed the notice ‘Hospital Would Be Closed on December 01’ yesterday. Reeta Kumari, an attendant with a patient, said that she was getting health facilities at almost no cost and doctors here were very humble and cooperative. The person working at the hospital said that restoration of the health facilities had brought big relief to the people and the workers at the hospital.

Sukhvinder Sukhu, Chief Minister, said the government was working on the land transfer issue of the hospital. He said, if required, amendments would be made in the Land Ceiling Act 1818. People’s welfare was the only motive of Congress government and it would not let this hospital close.
