Session on human trafficking held

A session on human trafficking being held at Shoolini School of Law.



A session on human trafficking was organised by Shoolini School of Law, wherein Juanita Headley, New York Attorney and international speaker, dwelt on educating and empowering people about abuse and exploitation. Monika Thakur, assistant professor, was the moderator of the session. Headley observed that human trafficking also covered labour trafficking, organ trade etc. She added that at times it was difficult to make the victim understand that he or she had been exploited by the accused.

Workshop on hygiene at IGMC

The department of community medicine, Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla, organised a workshop under the Water, Agriculture, Sanitation and Health (WASH) Project to address the problems related to water, sanitation, and hygiene in Shimla. The workshop was conducted under the aegis of Rajneesh Pathania, Principal, Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla, and Anmol Gupta, head of department-cum-principal investigator. The implementation of environmental sanitation and personal hygiene was stressed upon. Mayor Satya Kaundal and Deputy Mayor Shailendar Chauhan talked about the prevailing sanitary conditions in the city. During the discussion, Dr Gopal Ashish Sharma, senior resident, stressed on the need to generate awareness among the masses about the need to maintain hygiene. Sanitary Inspector Rajneesh Brar said the city was being monitored to check for health and hygiene.
