Industries, Parliamentary Affairs and Labour and Employment Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan assured that the government remains committed to offering quality, value-based, vocational and modern education to students across the state. The government’s focus is on strengthening the infrastructure of educational institutions, he stated while addressing the gathering at the annual prize distribution ceremony of Government Senior Secondary School, Sadiyar, on Thursday.

Chauhan emphasised that such events not only recognise the achievements of meritorious students but also offer them a platform to showcase their talent in various activities. He urged teachers and parents to instill good values in children and promote a drug-free lifestyle, enabling them to contribute positively to nation-building.

He said over the past two years, the state government had filled around 6,000 vacant teaching positions, and an additional 10,000 teaching posts have been approved, with a focus on remote areas. Chauhan reiterated the government’s commitment to students’ holistic development, which includes enhancing the infrastructure of educational institutions to support intellectual, mental and physical growth.

Addressing students, Chauhan urged them to set clear goals and work hard to achieve them, especially in today’s competitive world. He also took pride in the achievements of four girls from the Shillai constituency who represented the state at the national level in kabaddi.

During the ceremony, Chauhan announced a Rs 21 lakh grant for constructing an additional building at the Government Senior Secondary School, Sadiyar. He also sanctioned Rs 2 lakh for building a stage, Rs 25,000 for organising cultural programmes, and a 50-litre water cooler for the school. The principal, Dewanand Tomar, presented the annual report and felicitated Chauhan with a traditional shawl, cap, and memento.

Speaking to the public in Satoun, he reiterated the government’s commitment to improving essential services like roads, education, and healthcare. He also announced plans to establish a model hospital in each constituency, including one in Shillai, with five specialist doctors.

Minister Chauhan assured the residents that vacant posts for doctors and paramedical staff in remote areas of Sirmaur district would soon be filled. He also highlighted that projects worth Rs 200 crore had been approved in the Shillai constituency during the government’s two-year tenure, including the ongoing construction of a Rs 5 crore mini secretariat in Shillai.
