Severe cold wave in plains, lower hills for next 7 days

The plains and lower hills of Himachal Pradesh will experience severe cold wave conditions while dry weather was likely to prevail over most parts of the state in next seven days.

As per the state’s Meteorological Department, ground frost conditions are very likely at isolated places over Mandi, Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Chamba districts, from late night to morning hours during the next five days; moderate to dense fog in the adjoining areas of the reservoir of the Bhakra Dam (Bilaspur district) and shallow/ moderate fog over some parts of the Balh valley in Mandi district and Hamirpur district from late night to early morning hours during the next four days.

Meanwhile, the weather was mostly dry across the state in the last 24 hours. A maximum temperature of 18.6 °C was recorded in Shimla while in Dharmasala (24.2°C), Sundernagar (20.3°C), Bhuntar (20.5°C), Kalpa (11.5°C), Nahan (21.1°C), Solan (22.4°C), Manali (15.2°C), Kangra (22.3°C), Mandi (20.6°C), Bilaspur (21.8°C), Hamirpur (23.6°C), Chamba (19.5°C), Kufri (13.3°C), Narakanda (13.1°C) and Reckongpeo (16.2°C).

At 24.4 °C maximum temperature, Una was the hottest place in the state while Tabo village in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest at - 7.4°C.
