Shimla, April 19

The Himachal Pradesh University unit of Student Federation of India (SFI) today protested inside the university campus against the attack on SFI activists by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in Hyderabad Central University (HCU) and urged the university administration and police to take action against the suspects.

SFI campus secretary Sunny Seakta said such appalling actions in an institution like HCU were unacceptable.

“In the past week, ABVP mobs have carried out attacks on HCU students, including targeted violence using weapons against students in hostels, including girls and students with disabilities. Furthermore, the ABVP activists have prevented students from seeking medical attention at the university health centre and hospital,” he said.

“The aim of the ABVP is to disrupt the peaceful and cordial academic environment in HCU, as we have seen in other campuses such as JNU before,” he added. “HCU students will not tolerate this. We would also like to remind the ABVP perpetrators that their efforts to silence the SFI will be futile,” said Seakta. He added that the SFI unit of HPU stood with the HCU unit.
