Deputy Chief Whip in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Kewal Singh Pathania today said a centre of excellence of the Horticulture Department will be established in Shahpur to benefit farmers of the area.
The state government was helping in every possible way to promote horticulture and farmers were also being encouraged to grow orchards of fruit bearing trees, the local MLA said in a release. Pathania, along with officials of the Horticulture Department and Israeli experts, inspected the land for the centre of excellence. Apart from government officials, Israeli horticulture experts Uri Kaviston and Yuval Etyar were present on the occasion. Pathania assured the officers of the Government of India and the Israeli experts of all possible help to establishing the centre in Shahpur.
Deputy Director, Horticulture, Kamal Sheel Negi said after a survey, the Israeli experts said the land and climate here was suitable for establishing a nursery and demonstration centre of citrus fruits.
