Shandil inaugurates Rs 1.71-cr dev projects in Solan

DR Shandil, Health and Family Welfare, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister, today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development works, amounting to Rs 4.25 crore, in various wards of the Solan Municipal Corporation. Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh was among those present on the occasion.

Shandil inaugurated development works worth Rs 1.71 crore which included the cover of the main water supply storage tank constructed at a cost of Rs 43.63 lakh, road maintenance and paving work from the old Deputy Commissioner’s office to Sunny Side Park constructed at a cost of about Rs 20 lakh, the entrance gate of Ward No. 12, the work of laying paver tiles in various wards, an open air theatre in Jawahar Park constructed at a cost of Rs 21.25 lakh.

He also inaugurated the meeting hall and Mayor’s office in the Municipal Corporation Office Solan constructed at a cost of Rs 46.32 lakh.

Dr Shandil laid the foundation stone of development works worth around Rs 26.21 crore, including a road from Jaunaji Marg to Dhali, new water supply storage tank and embankment of drain.

He also laid the foundation stone of Shahid Smarak Park at the Saproon bypass to be constructed at a cost of Rs 30 lakh, besides various facilities in the park at the Saproon bypass of Ward No. 14 to be constructed at a cost of Rs 26.24 lakh, construction of footpath at this bypass to be constructed at a cost of Rs 20 lakh and construction of parking at the bypass at a cost of Rs 08.08 lakh. Shandil said the population of Solan town was increasing at the rate of 12 per cent per annum.

Well-planned efforts were being made for the long-term development of the town and for providing basic amenities to the people like smooth supply of water, he said.

While laying the foundation stone of a Shaheed Smarak at Saproon, Shandil said it would be a true tribute to the martyrs from the entire region which would remind the people about the sacrifices made by the valiant soldiers in keeping the nation safe. Shandil urged the councillors to lend their support in keeping the youth away from drugs while executing developmental works in their wards.

Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh said under the Sanvardhan Jal Supply Yojana, a water supply storage tank was being constructed by the Municipal Corporation in Solan. “This storage tank, having a capacity of 10 lakh litres, will give relief to the residents, especially in summers.”
