Thought-provoking Opinions, Expert Analysis, In-depth Insights and other Member Only BenefitsIn a major achievement, Kumar Ayam, a Class VIII student of Auckland House School for Boys, Shimla, has been selected to represent India at the prestigious Asian Open Short Track Speed Skating Trophy 2025, being held from August 20 to 25 at the Himadri Ice Skating Rink, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
Ayam will compete in the Junior C category in the 500m and 1,000m events, where athletes from 11 Asian nations, including China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam, will participate.
Lauding his achievement, Principal Reuben John said, “This is a proud moment for our school, our state and the nation. Ayam’s perseverance and discipline, coupled with the coaching and encouragement he has received, have brought him to this global stage. We wish him success in this prestigious tournament.”
He added that Ayam’s success reflects not only his relentless dedication and hard work, but also the unwavering support of his coach Pankaj Prabhakar and the committed staff of the school.
The Ice Skating Association of India (ISAI) will stream the championship live on YouTube, enabling the nation to cheer for Ayam and Team India as they compete on the international stage.
