The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Shimla, will send three proposals worth around Rs 125 crore to the State Disaster Management Authority. At the meeting held under the chairmanship of Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, the meeting discussed five proposals, but approved three for sending it to the SDMA.
A proposal worth Rs 90 crore was presented for the restoration and security measures in disaster-prone areas within the Shimla Municipal Corporation limits.
The second proposal, worth Rs 14.98 crore was approved for beefing up security measures in Krishna Nagar’s slaughter house area.
The SDMA approved the third proposal worth Rs 19.81 for the restoration of the areas from Ramchandra Chowk to Housing Board Colony, Jakhu, and Hainault Public School. The area has seen multiple landslides this monsoon, which has put several residential buildings under threat.
The Deputy Commissioner issued directions that video and photographic reports be attached with the proposals, and the restoration work be carried out in a scientific way to mitigate disasters.
The two other proposals, including Pandar Kenchi to Chatog road worth Rs two crore and for Rzhana to Savi road worth Rs 1.35 crore, were sent back for revision due to discrepancies. —
