Shimla gears up for R-Day with tableaux, cultural events
Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap announced that 25 tableaus from various departments will showcase state welfare programmes during the Republic Day celebrations at the historic Ridge on January 26. The tableaus will creatively highlight schemes and initiatives, combining informative and visually appealing elements.
Departments such as the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, District Disaster Management Authority, Him Urja, State Electricity Board, Tourism, Agriculture, Women and Child Development, Animal Health, Industry, DRDA, Education, Shimla Municipal Corporation, Horticulture, State Forensic Services, Forest, Language, Art, and Culture, Food Supply, Transport, and Health and Family Welfare will participate. These displays will feature initiatives like the Mukhya Mantri Sukh Ashray Yojana, student loans at 1% interest, Winter Carnival, maize procurement, dairy processing plants, and traditional practices like making pattals (leaf plates).
The tableaus will be accessible to the public at selected town locations on January 26 and 27, enhancing awareness of government schemes. DC Kashyap instructed departments to submit tableau themes for approval before beginning preparations.
The Republic Day parade will feature 27 teams, including units from the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, ITBP, SSB, male and female police contingents, Army Pipe Band, Traffic Police, Police Band, Home Guards, Fire Services, Postal Services, Ex-Servicemen, NCC, NSS, Bharat Scouts and Guides, Disaster Management Group, and the Police Dog Squad. Rehearsals will commence on January 22, culminating in a full dress rehearsal on January 24.
