Shimla girls shine at volleyball event

Students of Auckland House Girls’ School, Shimla, secured the silver medal in the under-19 category at the CISCE North Zone Volleyball Championship held at Aadarsh School, Karnal.

In a remarkable display of athleticism and teamwork, Auckland House Girls’ School, Shimla, brought laurels to Himachal Pradesh by securing the silver medal in the under-19 category at the CISCE North Zone Volleyball Championship, held at Aadarsh School, Karnal.

Competing against top teams from across the region, the Auckland girls proved to be fierce contenders, registering clean 2-0 victories over NCR Delhi and Ludhiana. The school’s Under-17 team also delivered a commendable performance, finishing in fourth position, further showcasing the depth of sporting talent within the institution.

The highlight of the tournament was the selection of four players from the Under-19 team to represent the CISCE North Zone at the national championship. The selected players are Vatsala Sewag, Himalika Sharma, Purva Kashyap and Varsha Thakur, whose exceptional performances earned them this prestigious opportunity.

Principal Samarkhi Samanthroy congratulated the players and praised the coaching staff for their unwavering dedication. “This achievement reflects the discipline, determination and sporting spirit that Auckland stands for. We are proud of our girls,” she said.

She further added that this outstanding performance not only reinforces Auckland House Girls’ School’s reputation as a centre of academic and co-curricular excellence but also highlights Himachal Pradesh’s growing prominence in national-level sports.
