Players from Shimla and Hamirpur districts dominated the three-day state-level judo competition at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex here today. The event was organised by the Himachal Pradesh State Judo Association. Over 150 participants from across the state participated in the competition.
In the 73 kg weight category, Shimla’s Mayank stood first, while Sirmaur’s Abhinav stood second and Hamirpur’s Adarsh Banyal and Kullu’s Ankush stood third.
In the 81 kg category, Shimla’s Sahil stood first, Hamipur’s Vaibhav bagged the second prize while Shimla’s Aman Upadhaya and Una’s Amit Sharma stood third.
In the 90 kg category, Solan’s Chetan won the first prize, Shimla’s Saurav stood second, and Solan’s Kushal and Hamirpur’s Vansh stood third.
In the 100 kg category, Hamirpur’s Ayush won the first prize, while Shimla’s Jai Khevta won the second prize and Hamirpur’s Adarsh and Akshit won the third prize.
The closing ceremony of the competition was held at the sports complex.
Agricultural Produce Market Committee Chairman Deva Nand, as the chief guest at the event, called upon the players to participate in the sport with great enthusiasm, and to stay away from drugs.
