Shimla law varsity hosts 1st annual alumni meet through online mode
The Alumni Committee of Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, in collaboration with the Alumni Association of HPNLU Shimla (AAHS), a registered society, organised the university’s first annual alumni meet through the online mode.
The event saw the active participation of alumni and faculty members, who engaged in discussions about the objectives and vision of the alumni association.
AAHS was officially registered as a society in the state on September 6, 2024.
The meet served as a platform to bring together alumni from various fields to discuss the direction and future activities of the association.
The event commenced with a welcome address from Vice-Chancellor Priti Saxena.
She extended her warm greetings to the members of the association, urging them to strengthen the ties with their alma mater.
Saxena emphasised the importance of organising a physical alumni gathering every second Saturday of April each year, encouraging the members to reconnect with their former classmates and mentors in person.
Saxena also highlighted the need for a comprehensive directory of alumni, including details about their current professions and locations, facilitating better networking and engagement.
She encouraged alumni to visit the university regularly and maintain strong connections with their professors and the institution, ensuring that the spirit of HPNLU continues to thrive in their professional journeys.
The gathering was also addressed by Registrar SS Jaswal, who spoke about the growth of the university since its establishment in 2016.
Jaswal expressed his gratitude towards the alumni and their families for placing their trust in the young institution, highlighting the tremendous infrastructural and academic advancements made over the years. He also extended a warm welcome to all members of the association.
Alumni association president Sahil Malhotra, a practicing advocate at the state High Court, delivered an address outlining the mission and future course of action for the association. Malhotra shared plans for organising a major alumni conference and connecting more alumni with the association. He also proposed the idea of inviting non-HPNLU alumni into the fold, emphasizing inclusivity.
One of the key initiatives discussed was the publication of an alumni journal to keep members updated on the achievements and developments within the community.
Association vice-president Shubham Mahajan thanked the university for providing an online platform to hold this crucial event.
He emphasised how such initiatives were vital in keeping the alumni connected with the institution, and each other.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dean (Academics) Santosh Kumar Sharma.
