The weather seems to have relented a bit in the state. The monsoon seems to have lost its intensity following incessant rainfall over the past one week or so. Several places in the state, including Shimla, Mandi and Kullu, recorded a dry day after a long time.

The weather department, too, has not issued an alert though a few places are expected to receive light to moderate rain over the next two days. It has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain at isolated places for September 8 and 9 in a couple of districts but most of the districts are likely to receive only light to moderate rain at isolated or few places. Overall, there’s a clear reduction in the intensity and distribution of the rainfall over the next few days.

Even as the weather seems to be relenting, a large number of roads and power distribution transformers continue to be disrupted across the state. While 1,091 roads are blocked for traffic, over 2,800 transformers are non-operational, leaving thousands of people in the dark. The work to restore these facilities will get the much-needed push with the weather clearing up.
