Traffic movement on the Shimla-Mandi road at Sunni in Shimla district has been disrupted after the road was severely damaged after a significant portion of the road sank into the Satluj river.

As a result, the road width has been reduced to 1.5 metres.

According to the district administration, the road has been severely affected due to scouring caused by the water current of the Satluj, making it unsafe for vehicular movement.

The district administration has closed the road till further orders.

The alternative route via the Thali bridge also remains closed after a bridge was damaged.

Meanwhile, heavy rain is likely to continue across the state on Monday as the Met department has issued a yellow warning for Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Kangra, Chamba, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Solan and Sirmaur districts.
