Seven unauthorised street vendors were removed by officials from the Shimla Municipal Corporation for operating without permission in various markets across the town. Six of the vendors were removed from Lower Bazaar, while one was removed from The Ridge, a popular tourist spot.

A team led by Tehbazaari Inspector Jyoti Prakash carried out inspections in different markets of Shimla on Sunday to identify unauthorised vendors. During the visit, the team found several vendors selling goods in Lower Bazaar, which was recently declared a no-vending zone. The officials swiftly removed these vendors from the area.

Prakash noted most of the unauthorised vendors are from neighbouring states such as Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. He said they come to Shimla to sell their products without permission, which causes several problems, including overcrowding. This overcrowding, in turn, leads to delays in emergency response times, such as during fires or medical situations.
