Shimla MC removes unauthorised vendors from Lower Bazaar
Shimla, July 21
The Shimla Municipal Corporation today removed nine unauthorised street vendors and hawkers who were operating without permission in Lower Bazaar of the state capital.
A team of the MC visited Lower Bazaar and found that some street vendors did not have the mandatory permit to run their business from the market. The team removed the vendors from the market and confiscated their goods.
The MC team also inspected the road from Lakkar Bazaar to IGMC, but found no unauthorised vendors on the stretch.
Tehbazaari Inspector Jyoti Prakash said most of these unauthorised street vendors hailed from other states like Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Delhi and Chandigarh. He said they had been causing congestion in the market due to which it was becoming very difficult for people to move around. Besides, they also caused delay in response to emergency situations, he added.
The Tehbazaari inspector said unauthorised street vendors would not be allowed to sell their goods in any part of the city.
Every Sunday, a team lead by the Tehbazari inspector visits the markets of the town to identify and remove unauthorised street vendors and hawkers.
