The Municipal Corporation (MC) of Shimla has decided to request the state government to include properties with a floor area ratio (FAR) of less than 400m in the Shimla Development Plan.
This proposal was discussed during the MC’s monthly general house meeting, chaired by Mayor Surender Chauhan. The Mayor emphasised that the move aims to benefit residents with smaller land areas, as numerous such cases remain unresolved.
“Many property owners with less than 500m of FAR are awaiting inclusion. We will urge the government to address this issue in the development plan,” he stated.
In another key decision, the MC resolved to allocate land for wine shops to boost revenue. A formal request will be made to the Excise Department, and the MC plans to construct fabricated structures for rental use. Mayor Chauhan added that councillors have been instructed to identify suitable land in their respective wards for these structures.
Additionally, councillors raised concerns over the town’s irregular drinking water supply, which has been causing significant inconvenience to residents.
