Following request from the bidders, Ropeway and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation (RTDC) has extended the date of opening of bids for the Shimla Ropeway Project to February 25. The date has been extended for the third time.
“We have received a request for extension from 2-3 bidders. In view of their request, we have decided to extend the date to February. Hopefully, we will not have to extend it further,” said RTDC DGM Munish Sahani. The bids were scheduled to be opened today.
The ropeway will be 13.79 km long, and will have 15 boarding and de-boarding stations with integrated parking lots. It will have three lines. The 15 boarding stations will come up at Tara Devi, Chakkar court, Tutikandi parking, New ISBT, 103 Tunnel, railway station, Victory Tunnel, Old Bus Stand, Lakkar Bazaar, IGMC, Sanjauli, Navbahar, Secretariat and the Lift.
The Rs 1,734 crore project is being funded by New Development Bank – 80 per cent of the amount would come as loan while 20 per cent cost will be borne by the state.
In the second phase of the project, the ropeway will be extended to surrounding places like Kufri.
