Shimla students seek justice for rape victim

Shimla, August 17

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) here today staged protests at Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, and Centre of Excellence, Government Post Graduate College, Sanjauli, against the brutal murder and rape of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, demanding an unbiased probe into the matter.

ABVP activists gathered at the universities and raised slogans against the West Bengal government.

ABVP HPU campus vice-president Dishant said, “With this protest, ABVP appeals to the youth to unite against the CM Mamta Banerjee-led corrupt and insensitive state government to ensure women’s safety in West Bengal.”

“The CM Mamata-led government is trying to save people involved in such rapes. Many such crimes have been committed by TMC goons too, but no action was taken against them by the WB government,” he added. — TNS
