Shimla’s Majiath ward to get ambulance road
Shimla, August 14
The long-pending demand of 1.5-km ambulance road in the Majiath ward under the Shimla Municipal Corporation will soon be fulfilled with the civic body set to start the construction work. As per the MC, the road to be constructed from Jutogh Railway Station till Government Primary School in Tavi will benefit 6,000 residents. The process for floating a tender is under way.
Shimla MC Mayor Surender Chauhan said besides Majiath, an ambulance road will also be constructed in the Totu ward. The corporation will also construct several public toilets in various wards, he added. “Construction of changing rooms in Kaithu and New Shimla wards is also in the pipeline,” he said. Majiath councillor Anita Sharma said the residents had been demanding the ambulance road for a very long time and the matter was also raised in the monthly house meeting of the civic body on a number of occasions.
“We have received the permission of the Railways for the construction of the road, but the work could not start due to the lack of funds,” Sharma added. — TNS
