Shukla releases book on pollinating insects
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Saturday released a book based on scientific research on pollinating insects titled “Insect Pollinators Diversity” at the Raj Bhavan here.
The book has been written by Dr Neelam Kumari, Assistant Professor, Department of Biosciences, Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla; Dr Sangeeta Sharma, scientist, Horticulture Research Centre, Mashobra, Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni; and Dr Nitesh Kumar and Dr Hirendra Singh Baniyal from HPU, Shimla.
Apprising the Governor of the book, the authors said it provided information on pollinating insects and their importance in agriculture and horticulture.
Pollinating insects were very important in fruit production, and the book would prove to be very beneficial for farmers, horticulture experts, researchers and students, they added. The Governor congratulated all the writers for publishing the book.
He said the significance of research had value only when it reached farmers, and they were benefitted by it.
He hoped that they would continue such efforts in future as well.
Secretary to the Governor CP Verma was among those present at the event.
