Nahan, August 27
The serene village of Bharli in Shiva panchayat in Sirmaur district is enveloped in grief after learning about the martyrdom of its 25-year-old son, Ashish Kumar. The young soldier made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the nation during the ‘Operation Alert’ in Arunachal Pradesh today.
The heartbreaking news reached his mother, Santaro Devi, who had long harboured dreams of seeing her son get married. She was in utter shock to learn that Ashish had laid down his life in the line of duty.
Ashish’s twin brother, Rohit, who works at a private firm, has also been left devastated by the loss of his sibling. Grenadier Ashish Kumar was born on March 14, 1999, and was serving in the 19 Grenadiers unit of the Indian Army. He had joined the Army six years ago, following in the footsteps of many brave soldiers from his region.
