The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Sirmaur district police seized 10.6 gm of heroin (chitta) near Hotel Peach Valley in Rajgarh. Two individuals were arrested at the scene — Ajay Kumar (35), a resident of Karganu Sanora village and Gulshan (29), from Kotli village — both in Rajgarh tehsil of Sirmaur.

The police said the accused have been charged under Sections 21, 25 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was part of a targeted drive by the SIU to combat drug trafficking in the region. Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted a car, with Chandigarh registration number, near Hotel Peach Valley. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of 10.6 gm of heroin, resulting in the immediate arrests.

Authorities are investigating the origin of the narcotics and its intended recipients. Initial inquiries suggest a wider network and efforts are underway to identify other individuals involved in the trafficking and distribution of the drugs.

This successful operation marks a significant step in the district’s ongoing fight against drug abuse and trafficking. The police have reiterated their commitment to eradicating drug-related crimes and urged the public to report suspicious activities.

Sirmaur Superintendent of Police Raman Kumar Meena commended the SIU team’s efforts, stating such operations would continue to ensure a safer environment for the community. “The fight against drugs is a priority and we will leave no stone unturned to dismantle these networks,” he added.

The arrests and seizure serve as a strong message to those involved in drug trafficking, underlining the district police’s resolve to make Sirmaur a drug-free zone.
