Smart City project: 150-ft-high Tricolour, fiddlehead sculpture unveiled in Dharamsala

A national flag and a fiddlehead sculpture were inaugurated under the Smart City project in Dharamsala today.
While inaugurating the granite sculpture, local Congress MLA Sudhir Sharma said it was the highest fiddlehead sculpture in the world. “We will apply for registration under the Guinness World Records,” he said.
Sharma said that the sculpture, put up in the Dari area of Dharamsala, was the first of its kind in the state. He said it would add to the beauty of the Smart City.
Anurag Chander Sharma, Commissioner of Dharamsala MC, said the fiddlehead sculpture had been crafted by a team of five artists, headed by Anil Kumar from Kota in Rajasthan. The sculpture, made in green granite, is 96 inches high. Its base ring diameter is 52 inches and the central diameter is 17 inches. The weight of the sculpture is 2.7 tonnes, he said.
He also inaugurated a 150-feet-high national flag brought up at the Kachehri crossinga. He said the height of the flag mast was 147.50 feet and its pedestal was 2.50 feet high. The size of the national flag that has been hoisted on the flag mast was 30 feet by 20 feet. He said it was the highest national flag in the state, which had added to the beauty of Dharamsala Smart City. The flag has been brought up at a cost of Rs 18.25 lakh, he said.
